Farnborough 2008

The Show gave a superb opportunity for the young people helping with the Build-a-Plane Project and Stand to see behind the scenes of a major aviation event, and experience the excitement that is unique to Farnborough.

It marked the first major public display of the second Build-a-Plane Project, the Spirit of Devon Youth, built by Devon Air Cadets and Scouts over the past 18 months, under the supervision of local light aircraft enthusiasts,  owners and LAA Inspectors.

There's plenty of expert help to explain what all the controls do - Stewart Luck (left photo) is the Project Director

As usual, the pedal planes prove a hit with the youngest visitors, giving an opportunity for some maintenance practice

While some youngsters perfected their radio procedures as Pilots or Air-Traffic Controllers, others made and flew cardboard gliders
